Good Websites that are a MUST for School
Introduction
Hey there, everyone! Welcome back to the Dailyist. Since school is starting/has started, I've decided to gather some websites that will be invaluable to you during your studies. I've been using these websites for quite some time, and they've really helped me. I hope you find them useful!
WEBSITES FOR STUDYING (click on the title to access the websites)
PomoFocus (timer)
PomoFocus is a website that uses the Pomodoro Method which can make your studying time useful and productive. What is the Pomodoro Method you ask? Well, the Pomodoro Technique is a time management method that can enhance your focus and productivity by breaking work into intervals called *pomodoros*, typically lasting 25 minutes, followed by short breaks of 5 minutes. TIP: After you complete four pomodoros, I would recommend a longer break of 15 to 30 minutes.
If you want to learn how time management can improve your studies and daily life, click here.
Quizlet is a website that provides different study tools, such as digital flashcards, quizzes, and interactive games, designed to enhance learning and retention of information. Quizlet recently limited many of its features, making it uncomfortable for learners who can't or don't want to spend money on Quizlet Premium. As an alternative, I found Knowt, which is essentially similar to Quizlet but offers more features. On Knowt, all features from Quizlet are available, along with some AI additions such as AI PDF summarizers, AI notes, and more. I definitely recommend using either :)
Grammarly (writing tool)
Next, we have Grammarly. Grammarly is a tool that you are probably familiar with; it fixes your grammar. But, in case you don’t know, Grammarly is an AI-powered writing assistant that gives you suggestions for improving grammar, spelling, punctuation, and writing style to make your writing more clear and effective. It's REALLY helpful when I'm writing essays or doing assignments on the computer and I make spelling or grammar mistakes. I definitely recommend using it
Next, CrashCourse can help you by providing engaging and informative video lessons on a wide range of subjects, including history, science, literature, and more. The videos break down complex topics into easily understandable segments, making learning more accessible and enjoyable. They are particularly useful for visual and auditory learners, offering a dynamic alternative to traditional study methods. CrashCourse can supplement your school lessons, help you prepare for exams, and provide a deeper understanding of topics you might find challenging, all in a fun and visually appealing format.
Omni Calculator is a really helpful online tool that provides a wide range of calculators for solving various problems across different fields, including finance, health, science, and mathematics, making complex calculations accessible for you! It’s helpful not just for school, but for your daily life too. BUT, only use this website to check your work, don’t use it just to get answers. Definitely recommend.
The Organic Chemistry Tutor is an educational resource on Youtube made by a professional chemist and tutor, who makes a variety of video tutorials and study materials to help students master organic chemistry concepts. These resources are really helpful for me when I struggle with complex topics, because the videos break down difficult material into manageable lessons, which makes it 100 times easier to grasp essential concepts and prepare for exams.
Discord is an online communication platform that enables users to engage in voice calls, video chats, and text messaging. While it is widely recognized for its use in gaming communities, Discord also serves as an effective study space. Users can create their own servers, which can be organized into various channels representing different classes or study groups with friends. This flexibility makes Discord a valuable tool for those seeking a collaborative online environment for studying.
TED-Ed can be a good tool for enhancing your studies by providing inspirational content and critical thinking exercises through its educational videos and interactive lessons. It can supplement your schoolwork by presenting complex ideas in an accessible way, offering fresh perspectives on various topics. Engaging with TED-Ed's global community also broadened my worldview, which is why I decided to put this website on here.
Google Scholar can help you by providing access to a large database of academic papers, articles, theses, and books across various subjects. This is particularly useful for conducting research, finding credible sources, and staying up-to-date with the latest developments in your areas of interest. It contains reliable information so most of the time when I am researching for a paper or doing homework, it’s a website I can use with ease.
Last but not least, we have Quizizz and Kahoot. They are REALLY similar, but both Quizizz and Kahoot can make studying more engaging and effective by turning learning into a fun, interactive experience. Quizizz allows you to take quizzes at your own pace, reinforcing knowledge through custom quizzes and game-like elements. Kahoot, on the other hand, is ideal for live, real-time quizzes, making it great for study groups or classroom settings. Both platforms use gamification to boost motivation, help you review and retain material, and make studying more enjoyable, whether you're working alone or with peers.
