If I Had One Song To Represent Who I Am, What Song Would That Be?
This question sounds stupid, but I came across this topic a few days ago, and I’ve been thinking about it ever since. I’ve been looking through my Spotify playlists but couldn’t find a song that fits me. Most of them were pop songs and K-pop songs.
Since all of them were some kind of upbeat music, I decided I wanted to tone it down, like Studio Ghibli. I love Studio Ghibli, especially the music. I found a song I LOVED the first time I heard it. The song is called “A Town with an Ocean View.” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pR4iCWB-VVQ). This song appeared on Kiki’s Delivery Service. I instantly knew that this song would represent who I was.
But how? I think this song captures the essence of a seaside town with the help of the enchanting melody and instrumentation. The music brings up a vivid image of a town with an ocean view, creating feelings of nostalgia and peace. It took me to a specific location and invoked emotions associated with that location.
The location that this song took me to was my heart. Through this song, I got to ponder about myself a little more. I feel like I got to take time to appreciate the music, and appreciate who I was as a person. I got to open up a new part of me that I wasn’t able to unlock.
Even if this song didn’t have words I could directly analyze, the song and the melody itself have shown me and guided me to who I am today.

I have big news to tell you guys!!
Summer Camp at Oxford University
This is some really exciting news because I’ve always wanted to travel to England and also view Oxford University. I wrote an essay for an essay competition, and that led me to a partial scholarship to a summer camp at Oxford University. Even though the topic of the essay I wrote was Creative Writing, I decided to go to the summer camp with Business. I haven’t yet discovered what I want to do when I grew up, so I am currently exploring many majors right now. I will be staying there for two weeks. And I will be making a vlog there. Exciting!! I will keep you guys updated!
